IMPORTANT:
Cat 330-4778 is the REAR SIDE timing gear cover gasket for the Perkins 1200 series engine (Cat C4.4/C6.6/C7.1 Tier 4). Perkins equivalent is T405824. The timing cover on these engines uses separate front and rear gaskets — do NOT order this part if you need the front side gasket (Cat 335-5330 / Perkins T406926). This is the #1 ordering mistake: confusing front and rear timing cover gaskets.

Failure symptoms: oil seeping from the timing cover area. On Tier 4 C4.4/C6.6/C7.1 engines, the timing cover area is complex with multiple sealing surfaces. When replacing, inspect the front crankshaft seal and any O-rings. Cat machines under ~175 hp typically use Perkins-built engines — Cat and Perkins part numbers are interchangeable for the same gasket.
