IMPORTANT:
Water temperature sensor for Perkins 1104/1106 engines (4.4L/6.0L/7.0L, 2002-2020 applications). Uses 2-pin M14x1.5 thread. Do NOT confuse with the coolant temperature sensor (2848A126/2848A129) for the same engine — Perkins engines can have BOTH a water temp sensor and a coolant temp sensor serving different ECU circuits. They share the same thread size and connector but have different NTC resistance curves. Installing the wrong one gives incorrect readings without triggering a fault code.
Also do NOT confuse with the oil pressure sensor (2874A007) — both 2874A018 and 2874A007 are Perkins 1104/1106 sensors, but one measures temperature (2-pin, NTC resistance) and the other measures pressure (3-pin, 0-5V). Failure symptoms: incorrect temperature reading, fan control issues, poor cold-start fueling. Found in Cat backhoe loaders, JCB equipment, Massey Ferguson tractors, and various Perkins industrial applications. Verify by Perkins engine serial number.
