IMPORTANT:
EXHAUST valve for later-production John Deere 4045 and 6068 PowerTech PSS/Plus engines (2014+ production, 4-valve-per-cylinder design). Requires 8 per 4045 (4-cyl) engine or 12 per 6068 (6-cyl) engine. Do NOT confuse with the earlier exhaust valve R532049 — verify your engine production date and build code to confirm which valve is correct. Also do NOT confuse with intake valve R534238 — exhaust valves are smaller diameter with different metallurgy to handle exhaust gas temperatures.
When replacing valves, always inspect valve guides for wear and valve seats for pitting or recession. Replace valve stem seals during any valve job — reusing old seals is the #1 cause of oil consumption after head work. On PowerTech PSS engines, check valve spring free length and pressure specs against the service manual. Measure valve protrusion (installed height) after seating — incorrect protrusion affects timing and compression.
⚠️ Verify engine build date — R534237 (2014+) vs R532049 (2012-2014).
