IMPORTANT:
This is a FUEL TEMPERATURE sensor — it monitors fuel temperature for ECU fuel density calculations. Do NOT confuse with the coolant temperature sensor (RE522823/RE503242) or the water-in-fuel sensor (RE519696). This is a 2-pin NTC resistance sensor measuring fuel temp from -40 to 120C. The coolant temp sensor uses a similar NTC element but different resistance curve and thread size — they are NOT interchangeable.
Failure symptoms: poor cold-start performance, black smoke, reduced fuel economy, engine running rough during warm-up, or fuel-related fault codes. The ECU uses fuel temperature to adjust injection timing and quantity — if the sensor reads incorrectly, the ECU over-fuels or under-fuels for the actual fuel density. On 4045/6068 PowerTech engines, this sensor is located on the fuel rail or fuel filter housing depending on engine serial number — confirm location matches 2-pin connector before ordering.
