IMPORTANT:
INTAKE valve for Perkins 1100 Series engines — specifically 1104C-44, 1104C-44T, 1104D-44, and 1104D-44T variants (4.4L, 4-cylinder). In Caterpillar equipment, this engine is branded as C4.4. The Cat equivalent intake valve is 309-6678 — same valve, different part number. Requires 4 intake valves per engine. Do NOT confuse with exhaust valve 3142A181.

This engine is used across Cat 416E/420E/428E/430E backhoes, JCB 3CX/4CX, and Massey Ferguson 5425-5455 tractors. When replacing, inspect valve guides for wear and valve seats for pitting or recession. Replace valve stem seals. Check spring free length and installed pressure specs. Measure valve protrusion after installation. On turbocharged variants, excessive intake valve recession reduces compression and causes hard starting. Adjust valve lash per service manual after reassembly.
