IMPORTANT:
INTAKE valve for John Deere 6619 diesel engines (10.1L, 6-cylinder, turbocharged). Requires 6 intake valves per engine (2-valve-per-cylinder design). Do NOT confuse with exhaust valve R63982 — intake valves have a larger head diameter to maximize airflow and use different alloy than exhaust valves. The 6619 engine is found in 4640/4840 tractors and 7720/8820 combines.
When replacing intake valves on these vintage engines, always inspect valve guides for wear (wobble test) and valve seats for pitting or recession. Replace valve stem seals during any valve job — old seals cause oil burning and blue smoke on deceleration. Check valve spring free length and installed pressure against service manual specs. Measure valve protrusion after installation to confirm correct installed height. On high-hour 6619 engines, intake valve seat recession is common — if valve protrusion exceeds the service limit, the seat must be recut or replaced with an insert. Adjust valve lash to spec after reassembly — incorrect lash causes poor performance, hard starting, and accelerated valve/seat wear.
⚠️ Intake valve only — for exhaust, order R63982.
