Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 14/2 AWG ROUND DUPLEX GRAY JACKET BOAT CABLE 100 FT SPOOL:

GRAY-JACKETED MARINE CABLE — OEM SPEC AND DIFFERENTIATION APPLICATIONS:
This is the gray-jacketed variant of Cobra's 14/2 marine duplex branch circuit cable. The gray outer jacket provides circuit differentiation from standard white-jacketed DC cables and matches OEM boat builder harness color specifications on certain vessels. Internal conductors meet SAE J1128 / ABYC E-11 with traditional red positive + black DC negative color coding. 14 AWG is the most commonly specified gauge for typical pleasure boat DC accessory branch circuits.

CABLE CONFIGURATION:
• 2 Conductors x 14 AWG Each (Red + Black per SAE J1128 / ABYC E-11)
• GRAY Round Outer PVC Jacket — Differentiation From Standard White Marine Cable
• Class K Type 3 Tinned-Copper Stranding (41 x 30, Type III Finely Stranded)
• 600V Voltage Rating
• 105°C Dry / 75°C Wet Temperature Rating
• Maximum Amperage: 25A Outside Engine Spaces / 20A Inside Engine Spaces
• Standard 15A Branch Circuit Rating
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable per UL 1426
• 100 Foot Spool

WHY CHOOSE GRAY JACKET vs STANDARD WHITE:
• OEM Boat Builder Harness Color Match (Specific Vessels Use Gray)
• Circuit Differentiation in Installations With Multiple Cable Types
• Industrial and Commercial Marine Applications Where Gray is Preferred
• Visible Cable Run Aesthetics — Gray Often Desired for Visible Installations
• Match Existing Harness Color for Repair and Extension Work
• Differentiation From Standard White DC Cable in Engine Rooms / Service Areas

ABYC E-11 DC COLOR CODE — RED + BLACK INNER CONDUCTORS:
Inner conductors follow ABYC E-11 / SAE J1128 standards:
• RED = Positive 12V Ungrounded Conductor
• BLACK = Traditional DC Negative / Ground Return Conductor
Black remains acceptable per current ABYC standards (yellow has been preferred since the 2008 revision for new construction).

WHEN TO USE 14/2 — STANDARD BRANCH CIRCUITS (~15A):
• 16/2 (~10A) = lighter gauge for low-current accessories
• 14/2 THIS ITEM (~15A standard / 25A peak outside engine) = STANDARD BRANCH CIRCUITS
• 12/2 (~25A standard) = distribution feeds, larger pumps, amp power
• 10/2 (~30-40A) = subpanel feeds, smaller inverters

COMMON 14/2 GRAY JACKET MARINE APPLICATIONS:
• OEM Boat Builder Cable Replacement (Vessels Originally Wired with Gray)
• Standard 15A DC Branch Circuit Wiring (THE MOST COMMON USE)
• Standard Bilge Pump Runs (800-1100 GPH Pumps)
• Navigation Light Circuits (Bow, Stern, Anchor)
• Cabin Lighting Circuits
• Helm Electronics Power Feeds
• Marine VHF Radio Dedicated Power
• GPS / Chartplotter Power Feed
• Stereo Head Unit Power
• Cigarette Lighter / 12V Outlet Circuits
• Fishfinder Power Feed
• Marine Fan Power
• Cabin LED Light Strip Circuits
• Trolling Motor Accessory Feeds
• Aerator Pump Power Cable (Medium Pumps)
• Smaller Livewell Pump Cable
• Compass Light Power
• Cockpit Accessory Power Wiring
• Switch Panel Branch Output Wiring
• Engine Compartment Light Feeds
• Trim Tab Indicator Wiring
• Marine Horn Wiring
• Marine Bait Tank Pump Cable
• Wakeboard Tower Light Feeds
• Underwater LED Light Wiring
• Engine Hour Meter and Gauge Wiring
• Industrial Marine Branch Circuits
• Commercial Vessel Branch Circuit Wiring
• Engine Room Service Wiring (Differentiated from White)

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR (USE LARGER GAUGE OR DIFFERENT CABLE):
• Main Battery Cables — Use Heavy Gauge Single-Conductor (8, 4, 2, 1/0 AWG)
• Engine Starter Wiring — Use Heavy Gauge Single-Conductor
• Distribution Panel Main Feeds — Use 12/2 (B6G12T-21) or Larger
• Inverter Inputs — Use 10/2 (B6G10T-21) or 8/2
• Larger Bilge Pumps (1500+ GPH) — Use 12/2 or 10/2
• High-Current Loads Above ~15 Amps — Step Up to 12/2 or 10/2
• Trolling Motors (Even Smaller 12V) — Use 10/2 or 8/2 Dedicated
• AC Circuits — Use AC Triplex Cable (Black/White/Green)
• Bonding/Safety Ground — Use Single-Conductor Green Wire

COMPATIBLE VESSEL TYPES:
• All Powerboats — Center Console, Cuddy Cabin, Express Cruiser, Walk-Around
• All Sailboats — Day Sailers, Cruisers, Racing Yachts, Liveaboards
• Pontoon Boats and Houseboats
• Bass Boats and Bay Boats
• OEM Boats Originally Wired with Gray-Jacketed Cable
• Industrial and Commercial Marine Vessels
• Personal Watercraft (PWC) Wiring Harness Repairs
• RV and Trailer Marine-Grade Branch Circuit Wiring

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE:
• UL Listed UL 1426 Boat Cable Standard
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable Classification
• ABYC E-11 Compliant (American Boat & Yacht Council)
• Inner conductors meet SAE J1128
• United States Coast Guard (USCG) Approved
• Made in USA

FITMENT NOTE:
Universal multi-conductor round duplex marine cable with GRAY jacket — fits any marine application requiring 14/2 AWG paired DC conductors with gray outer jacket for OEM spec match or circuit differentiation. Not vehicle-specific. Per ABYC E-11, red is positive 12V and black is the traditional DC negative. Inner conductors are identical to standard white-jacketed cable — only the outer jacket color differs. For standard white jacket use B6W/B7W series. For higher current step up to 12/2 (B6G12T-21 gray); for lighter accessories step down to 16/2.
