Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 12/3 AWG FLAT AC TRIPLEX BOAT CABLE 100 FT SPOOL:

THE 20A AC BRANCH CIRCUIT CABLE — STANDARD FOR DEDICATED AC OUTLETS:
Per ABYC E-8 marine AC standards and NEC 210.21, 12 AWG conductors are required for 20 amp AC branch circuits. This 12/3 flat triplex is the standard cable for dedicated 20A AC galley appliance circuits, larger AC accessory feeds, marine heater supplies, and medium battery chargers.

CABLE CONFIGURATION:
• 3 Conductors x 12 AWG Each (Black + White + Green ABYC E-8 AC Code)
• White FLAT Outer PVC Jacket — Low-Profile Triplex Construction
• Class K Type 3 Tinned-Copper Stranding (65 x 30, Extra-Flexible Marine Spec)
• 50V DC / 600V AC Voltage Rating
• 105°C Dry / 75°C Wet Temperature Rating
• Maximum Amperage: 45A Outside Engine Spaces, 38.3A Inside Engine Spaces
• AC Branch Circuit Rating: 20A Standard (ABYC E-8 / NEC 210.21)
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable per UL 1426

ABYC E-8 AC COLOR CODE — IMPORTANT FUNCTIONAL DESIGNATION:
• BLACK = AC HOT / LIVE (Ungrounded Conductor)
• WHITE = AC NEUTRAL (Grounded Conductor)
• GREEN = AC SAFETY GROUND (Equipment Grounding Conductor)
Per ABYC E-11 / E-8, AC safety ground conductor must be sized to match supply ampacity. For 20A AC branch circuits, 12 AWG is the correct gauge.

WHEN TO USE 12/3 — 20A AC BRANCH CIRCUITS:
• 16/3 AC cable (15A branches) — small AC outlets, lighter loads — B6W16T-30 / B7W16T-30
• 12/3 AC cable (THIS ITEM, 20A branches) — galley appliances, dedicated outlets
• 10/3 AC cable (30A shore power main) — L5-30R inlet to panel — B7W10T-30
• 8/3 or 6/3 AC cable (50A shore power) — L14-50R systems

COMMON 12/3 FLAT AC TRIPLEX MARINE APPLICATIONS:
• 20 Amp AC Galley Appliance Branch Circuits (Microwave, Coffee Maker)
• Dedicated 20A AC Outlets (Galley, Head, Salon)
• Battery Charger AC Input (15-20A Smart Chargers)
• Marine AC Heater Feed Cable (20A Heaters)
• Smaller Marine Generator Output (1500-2500W Generators)
• AC Subpanel Feeds (Branch Subpanels Off Main 30A)
• Marine Air Conditioning Supply (Smaller-Medium Reverse-Cycle Units)

FITMENT NOTE:
Universal 20A AC marine flat triplex cable — fits any marine application requiring 12/3 AWG black/white/green AC conductors at 20 amp branch circuit ampacity. Not vehicle-specific. Per ABYC E-8/NEC 210.21, 12 AWG is the correct gauge for 20A AC branch circuits. For 30A shore power use 10/3 (B7W10T-30). For 15A branches use 14/3 or 16/3 (B6W16T-30). For DC use see B7W12T-21 (12/2 red+black flat duplex). Black/white/green color coding is functional per ABYC E-8 — DO NOT use for DC circuits.
