Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 16/3 AWG FLAT AC TRIPLEX BOAT CABLE 100 FT SPOOL:

SMALL AC ACCESSORY CABLE — FLAT PROFILE FOR LOW-PROFILE INSTALLATION:
16 AWG is the smallest practical gauge for marine AC triplex wiring, suitable for low-current dedicated AC loads under 13 amps with appropriate breaker protection. This 16/3 flat triplex provides the standard ABYC E-8 AC color code (black/white/green) in a low-profile flat jacket — ideal for routing under flooring, behind panels, and along bulkheads where the bulkier round profile won't fit.

CABLE CONFIGURATION:
• 3 Conductors x 16 AWG Each (Black + White + Green ABYC E-8 AC Code)
• White FLAT Outer PVC Jacket — Low-Profile Triplex Construction
• Class K Type 3 Tinned-Copper Stranding (26 x 30 Marine Spec)
• Nominal O.D. 0.187 x 0.433 Inch — Compact Flat Profile
• 50V DC / 600V AC Voltage Rating
• 105°C Dry / 75°C Wet Temperature Rating
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable per UL 1426

FLAT vs ROUND 16/3 — WHICH PROFILE TO CHOOSE:
• ROUND 16/3 (B6W16T-30) — better for conduit routing, longer bulkhead runs, loom installation
• FLAT 16/3 (THIS ITEM) — better for under-flooring runs, behind-panel installation, surface mounting
Both have identical electrical specs — the choice is purely about installation profile.

ABYC E-8 AC COLOR CODE — IMPORTANT FUNCTIONAL DESIGNATION:
• BLACK = AC HOT / LIVE (Ungrounded Conductor)
• WHITE = AC NEUTRAL (Grounded Conductor)
• GREEN = AC SAFETY GROUND (Equipment Grounding Conductor)
Per ABYC E-11 / E-8, AC safety ground conductor must be sized to match supply ampacity.

WHEN TO USE 16/3 — SMALL AC ACCESSORY CIRCUITS (UNDER 13A):
• 16/3 THIS ITEM (under 13A) — SMALL AC accessories, low-amp dedicated loads
• 14/3 cable (15A standard branches) — cabin GFCI receptacles, standard outlets
• 12/3 cable (20A branches) — galley appliances, dedicated outlets
• 10/3 cable (30A shore power main) — L5-30R inlet to panel
• 8/3 / 6/3 cable (50A shore power) — L14-50R systems

COMMON 16/3 FLAT AC TRIPLEX MARINE APPLICATIONS:
• Smaller Battery Charger AC Input (5-10A Chargers)
• Marine AC Clock and Small Electronic Device Feeds
• Dedicated Small AC Loads (Under 13A)
• Internal Wiring of AC Distribution Components
• Smaller Marine LED AC Light Feeds
• Cabin AC Accessory Branches (Small Loads)
• Smaller TV / AV AC Power Feeds
• Marine Refrigerator AC Input (Compact AC Fridges)
• AC Indicator and Status Light Wiring
• AC Sensor Power Lines

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR (USE LARGER GAUGE OR DIFFERENT CABLE):
• 15A AC Branch Circuits (Code Standard) — Use 14/3 (B7W14T-30)
• 20A AC Branch Circuits — Use 12/3 (B7W12T-30)
• 30A AC Shore Power Main — Use 10/3 Triplex (B7W10T-30)
• 50A AC Shore Power — Use 8/3 or 6/3 Triplex Cable
• Heavy AC Loads Above ~13 Amps — Step Up to 14/3 or 12/3
• DC Circuits — Use 16/2 DC Cable (B7W16T-21 Red+Black)
• Bonding/DC Safety Ground — Use Single-Conductor Green Wire

COMPATIBLE VESSEL TYPES:
• All Pleasure Boats with AC Distribution Systems
• Cuddy Cabin and Express Cruiser Powerboats with AC Systems

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE:
• UL Listed UL 1426 Boat Cable Standard
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable Classification
• ABYC E-8 Compliant (AC Electrical Systems on Boats)
• ABYC E-11 Compliant (American Boat & Yacht Council)
• United States Coast Guard (USCG) Approved
• Made in USA

FITMENT NOTE:
Universal small-gauge AC marine flat triplex cable — fits any marine application requiring 16/3 AWG black/white/green AC conductors at low-current capacity (under 13A). Not vehicle-specific. For 15A AC branch circuits use 14/3 (B7W14T-30). For 20A branches use 12/3 (B7W12T-30). For DC use see B7W16T-21 (16/2 red+black flat duplex). For round profile use B6W16T-30. Black/white/green color coding is functional per ABYC E-8 — DO NOT use for DC circuits.
