Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 16/3 AWG AC TRIPLEX BOAT CABLE 100 FT SPOOL:

CABLE CONFIGURATION:
• 3 Conductors x 16 AWG Each (Black + White + Green ABYC E-8 AC Color Code)
• White Round Outer PVC Jacket — UV and Chafe Resistant
• Class K Tinned-Copper Stranding (26 x 30)
• Nominal O.D. 0.333 Inch — Compact Round Triplex Format
• 600 Volt Rated for AC Marine Applications
• 105°C Dry / 75°C Wet Temperature Rating
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable per UL 1426

ABYC E-8 AC COLOR CODE — IMPORTANT FUNCTIONAL DESIGNATION:
Per ABYC E-8 Marine AC Electrical Standards (and NEC), the conductor colors in this triplex cable have specific designated functions:
• BLACK = AC HOT / LIVE (Ungrounded Conductor)
• WHITE = AC NEUTRAL (Grounded Conductor)
• GREEN = AC SAFETY GROUND (Equipment Grounding Conductor)
This is fundamentally different from DC color coding — these conductors carry alternating current.

16/3 vs 16/2 — WHICH CABLE TO CHOOSE:
• 16/2 Marine Cable (Red + Black) = DC APPLICATIONS — bilge pumps, nav lights, accessories
• 16/3 Marine Cable (Black + White + Green) = AC APPLICATIONS — outlets, AC accessories
DO NOT use 16/3 AC cable for DC circuits or 16/2 DC cable for AC circuits — color coding is functional, not interchangeable.

COMMON 16/3 MARINE AC APPLICATIONS:
• 15 Amp AC Branch Circuit Wiring (Cabin GFCI Receptacles)
• Cockpit GFCI AC Outlet Wiring
• Galley AC Outlet Circuits (Coffee Maker, Microwave Outlets)
• Cabin AC Accessory Feeds (Smaller Appliances, Lights, Fans)
• Battery Charger AC Input Wiring (10-15 Amp Smart Chargers)
• Marine Heater AC Input Wiring
• Smaller Marine Air Conditioning AC Connections
• Marine TV and AV Equipment AC Power
• Generator Output to Distribution Panel (Smaller Generators 1500-2000W)
• Inverter AC Output to Receptacles
• Cabin Galley Appliance Circuit Wiring
• Marine Refrigerator AC Input (Where Equipped)
• Cabin Outlet Receptacle Branch Circuits
• Engine Room AC Lighting Circuits
• Salon and Stateroom AC Power Wiring
• Holding Tank Macerator AC Wiring (Where AC-Powered)

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR (USE LARGER GAUGE OR DIFFERENT CABLE):
• 30A AC Shore Power Inlet — Use 10/3 AC Triplex (or 10 AWG single-conductor)
• 50A AC Shore Power Inlet — Use 6/3 or 8/3 AC Cable
• Main AC Distribution Panel Feeds — Use Larger Gauge
• High-Current AC Loads Above ~15 Amps — Use 14/3 or 12/3
• DC Circuits — Use 16/2 DC Boat Cable (B6W16T-21)

COMPATIBLE VESSEL TYPES:
• All Powerboats with AC Electrical Systems — Cuddy Cabin, Express Cruiser
• Sailboats with Auxiliary AC Systems and Generators
• Pontoon Boats and Houseboats with AC Outlets
• Bass Boats and Bay Boats with Inverter Systems
• Sterndrive and Inboard Powered Boats with AC Distribution
• Vessels with 30A Shore Power Inlets (for Branch Circuit AC)
• RV and Trailer Marine-Grade AC Branch Circuits

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE:
• UL Listed UL 1426 Boat Cable Standard
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable Classification
• ABYC E-8 Compliant (AC Electrical Systems on Boats)
• ABYC E-11 Compliant (American Boat & Yacht Council)
• United States Coast Guard (USCG) Approved
• Made in USA

FITMENT NOTE:
Universal AC marine triplex cable — fits any marine application requiring 16/3 AWG black/white/green AC branch circuit wiring. Not vehicle-specific. Per ABYC E-8 AC color code: black is hot, white is neutral, green is safety ground. For DC circuits use 16/2 boat cable (B6W16T-21) which has red/black conductors. For higher AC current (30A or 50A shore power) step up to 10/3 or 8/3 AC cable.
