Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 16/2 AWG FLAT DUPLEX BOAT CABLE 100 FT SPOOL:

THE LOW-CURRENT ACCESSORY CABLE — FLAT PROFILE FOR CLEAN INSTALLATIONS:
16 AWG is the smallest practical gauge for marine accessory wiring, ideal for low-current branch circuits drawing under 10 amps. This 16/2 flat duplex provides the standard ABYC color-coded DC pair (red + black) in a low-profile flat jacket — perfect for under-flooring runs, behind-panel installations, and surface mounting against bulkheads.

CABLE CONFIGURATION:
• 2 Conductors x 16 AWG Each (Red + Black ABYC DC Color Pair)
• White FLAT Outer PVC Jacket — Low-Profile Duplex Construction
• Class K Type 3 Tinned-Copper Stranding (26 x 30 Marine Spec)
• Nominal O.D. 0.192 x 0.319 Inch — Compact Flat Profile
• 50V DC / 600V AC Voltage Rating
• 105°C Dry / 75°C Wet Temperature Rating
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable per UL 1426

FLAT vs ROUND 16/2 — WHICH PROFILE TO CHOOSE:
• ROUND 16/2 (B6W16T-21) — better for conduit routing, longer bulkhead runs, loom installation
• FLAT 16/2 (THIS ITEM) — better for under-flooring runs, behind-panel installation, surface mounting
Both have identical electrical specs — the choice is purely about installation profile.

ABYC E-11 DC COLOR CODE — RED + BLACK PAIR:
Per ABYC E-11 marine electrical standards, this 16/2 flat duplex provides the traditional DC color pair in a single jacketed cable for clean, code-compliant low-current accessory wiring:
• RED = Positive 12V Ungrounded Conductor
• BLACK = Traditional DC Negative / Ground Return Conductor
Black remains acceptable per current ABYC standards (yellow has been preferred since the 2008 revision for new construction).

WHEN TO USE 16/2 — LOW-CURRENT BRANCH CIRCUITS (~10A):
• 16/2 THIS ITEM (~10A) — LOW-CURRENT accessories, small pumps, indicator lights
• 14/2 cable (~15A) — standard branch circuits, most pleasure boat accessories
• 12/2 cable (~25A) — distribution feeds, larger pumps
• 10/2 cable (~30-40A) — subpanel feeds, smaller inverters

COMMON 16/2 FLAT DUPLEX MARINE DC APPLICATIONS:
• Smaller Bilge Pump Runs (500-800 GPH Pumps)
• Cabin Lighting Circuits (Low-Power LED)
• Compass Light Wiring
• Switch Indicator Light Circuits
• Smaller Fishfinder / Electronics Power Feeds
• Cigarette Lighter / 12V Outlet Circuits (Light-Duty)
• Trim Tab Indicator Wiring
• Engine Alarm and Buzzer Wire
• Tachometer and Gauge Backlighting

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR (USE LARGER GAUGE OR DIFFERENT CABLE):
• Standard Bilge Pumps (800-1100 GPH) — Use 14/2 (B7W14T-21)
• Distribution Panel Feeds — Use 12/2 (B7W12T-21) or Larger
• Inverter Inputs — Use 10/2 (B7W10T-21) or 8/2
• Loads Above ~10 Amps Continuous — Step Up to 14/2
• Trolling Motors — Use 10/2 or 8/2 Dedicated
• Main Battery Cables — Use Heavy Gauge Single-Conductor
• AC Circuits — Use AC Triplex Cable (Black/White/Green)
• Bonding/Safety Ground — Use Single-Conductor Green Wire

COMPATIBLE VESSEL TYPES:
• All Powerboats — Center Console, Cuddy Cabin, Express Cruiser, Walk-Around
• All Sailboats — Day Sailers, Cruisers, Racing Yachts
• Pontoon Boats and Houseboats
• Bass Boats and Bay Boats

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE:
• UL Listed UL 1426 Boat Cable Standard
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable Classification
• ABYC E-11 Compliant (American Boat & Yacht Council)
• United States Coast Guard (USCG) Approved
• Made in USA

FITMENT NOTE:
Universal multi-conductor flat duplex marine cable — fits any marine application requiring 16/2 AWG paired DC conductors at low-current accessory capacity (~10A). Not vehicle-specific. Per ABYC E-11, red is positive 12V and black is the traditional DC negative. For round profile use B6W16T-21. For higher current use 14/2 (B7W14T-21) or larger. For AC use see B7W14T-30 (14/3) or B7W12T-30 (12/3) AC triplex cables.
