Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 14/3 AWG FLAT AC TRIPLEX BOAT CABLE 100 FT SPOOL:

THE 15A AC BRANCH CIRCUIT CABLE — STANDARD FOR CABIN OUTLETS:
Per ABYC E-8 marine AC standards and NEC 210.21, 14 AWG conductors are required for standard 15 amp AC branch circuits. This 14/3 flat triplex is the standard cable for cabin GFCI receptacles, cockpit outlets, stateroom outlets, salon AC outlets, and smaller AC accessory feeds on pleasure boats.

CABLE CONFIGURATION:
• 3 Conductors x 14 AWG Each (Black + White + Green ABYC E-8 AC Code)
• White FLAT Outer PVC Jacket — Low-Profile Triplex Construction
• Class K Type 3 Tinned-Copper Stranding (41 x 30, Extra-Flexible Marine Spec)
• Nominal O.D. 0.223 x 0.500 Inch — Compact Flat Profile
• 50V DC / 600V AC Voltage Rating
• 105°C Dry / 75°C Wet Temperature Rating
• AC Branch Circuit Rating: 15A Standard (ABYC E-8 / NEC 210.21)
• UL Listed BC-5W2 Boat Cable per UL 1426

ABYC E-8 AC COLOR CODE — IMPORTANT FUNCTIONAL DESIGNATION:
• BLACK = AC HOT / LIVE (Ungrounded Conductor)
• WHITE = AC NEUTRAL (Grounded Conductor)
• GREEN = AC SAFETY GROUND (Equipment Grounding Conductor)
Per ABYC E-11 / E-8, AC safety ground conductor must be sized to match supply ampacity. For 15A AC branch circuits, 14 AWG is the correct gauge.

WHEN TO USE 14/3 — 15A AC BRANCH CIRCUITS:
• 16/3 AC cable (15A — smaller round triplex) — B6W16T-30 round version
• 14/3 AC cable (THIS ITEM, 15A) — STANDARD branch circuits, flat profile
• 12/3 AC cable (20A branches) — galley appliances, dedicated outlets — B7W12T-30
• 10/3 AC cable (30A shore power) — L5-30R inlet to panel — B7W10T-30
• 8/3 / 6/3 AC cable (50A shore power) — L14-50R systems
