Description

UNIVERSAL MARINE WIRE — 14 AWG GRAY TINNED COPPER PRIMARY WIRE 100 FT SPOOL:

ABYC E-11 STANDARD — GRAY COLOR USE (DUAL FUNCTION):
Per ABYC E-11 marine electrical standards (Table XIV — Engine and Accessory Wiring Color Code), GRAY color wire is designated for TWO distinct functions: (1) Navigation Lights — fuse or switch to nav light fixtures (positive power feed), and (2) Tachometer — sender to gauge signal wire. Gray is one of the few ABYC colors with dual functional designations.

FUNCTION 1 — NAVIGATION LIGHT CIRCUIT APPLICATIONS:
• Bow Sidelight Circuit (Red Port / Green Starboard Combination Light)
• Stern Light Circuit (White Aft-Facing)
• Anchor Light Circuit (All-Around White at Masthead)
• Masthead Light Circuit (Forward-Facing Steaming Light)
• Steaming/Tri-Color Light Circuit (Sailboats Under Power)
• Combination Sidelight to Switch Panel Wiring
• Navigation Light Switch to Light Fixture Run
• Spreader Light Wiring (Sailboats)
• Deck Light Circuits (Where Gray is Used)
• Courtesy Light Wiring (Where Gray is Used)
• Multi-Color Combination Light (Tri-Color) Wiring
• USCG Required Navigation Light Installation Compliance

FUNCTION 2 — TACHOMETER SENDER SIGNAL APPLICATIONS:
• Outboard Motor Tachometer Signal Wire (Alternator Stator Pickup)
• Inboard Engine Tachometer Signal (Alternator W-Terminal or Distributor)
• Diesel Engine Tachometer Wiring (Alternator W-Terminal Pulse)
• Twin-Engine Tachometer Wiring (Port + Starboard Tachs)
• Triple-Engine Tach Installations (Outboard Motors)
• Aftermarket Tachometer Installation Sender Run
• Tach Signal Extension and Harness Repair
• Tach Signal from Magneto/CDI Systems
• Inductive Pickup Tachometer Wiring

SIGNAL/POWER WIRE NOTE:
When used for navigation lights, gray carries 12V positive current to LED or incandescent nav light fixtures (typically 0.5-2 amps per fixture). When used for tachometer wiring, gray carries a low-current pulse signal (milliamps) from the engine RPM source. 14 AWG is well-suited for both uses — sufficient for nav light current and durable for tach signal wiring.

COMPATIBLE VESSEL TYPES:
• All Powerboats — Center Console, Cuddy Cabin, Express Cruiser, Walk-Around
• All Sailboats — Day Sailers, Cruisers, Racing Yachts, Liveaboards
• Pontoon Boats and Houseboats
• Bass Boats and Bay Boats
• Personal Watercraft (PWC) Tachometer Wiring
• Outboard Motor Tachometer Harness Repairs
• Sterndrive and Inboard Engine Tach Wiring
• USCG Required Navigation Light Installations

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE:
• UL Listed UL1426 Boat Cable Standard
• ABYC E-11 Compliant (American Boat & Yacht Council)
• United States Coast Guard (USCG) Specifications
• USCG Navigation Light Wiring Compliance
• Made in USA

FITMENT NOTE:
Universal marine primary wire — fits any marine application requiring 14 AWG gray conductor. Per ABYC E-11 Table XIV, gray serves DUAL functions: navigation light circuits (positive power feed) and tachometer sender signal wiring. Common usage scenarios include nav light fixture wiring (bow lights, stern lights, anchor lights) and tachometer signal runs from outboard alternator stators or inboard engine alternator W-terminals to dashboard gauges.
