Kawasaki JS 400 JS 550 SX 550 Exhaust Gasket
Replacement exhaust gasket for Kawasaki Jet Ski JS 400 JS 550 and SX 550 personal watercraft. The JS 400 is equipped with a 400cc 2-stroke twin cylinder engine with a 65mm bore and 60mm stroke producing 27 horsepower using premix lubrication. The JS 550 and SX 550 feature a 530cc 2-stroke twin cylinder engine with a 75mm bore and 60mm stroke. The SX 550 produces 47 HP with reed valve induction and oil injection. This gasket seals the exhaust connection preventing exhaust gas leaks. On 2-stroke engines proper exhaust sealing is critical because the exhaust system creates the back pressure needed for correct fuel scavenging. A leaking exhaust gasket disrupts this pressure balance causing lean running conditions that lead to overheating and piston damage. On personal watercraft the exhaust is water cooled and a failed gasket can allow water into the engine causing hydro lock. Always clean both mating surfaces before installing and torque fasteners to factory specification.
