• UP TO S/N xxxx-4040 — original Hitachi starting motor 185086321. THIS IS THE UNIT THIS LISTING REPLACES
• FROM S/N xxxx-4041 — Nippon Denso starting motor 185086340, rated 1.0 kW. NOT covered by this listing
• FROM S/N xxxx-6621 — starting motor 185086440. NOT covered by this listing
Check the serial number on your generator data plate before ordering. The three starters are not interchangeable

FITMENT NOTES:
• 12 VOLT, permanent magnet gear reduced, clockwise rotation, 9-tooth pinion
• Gear outside diameter 29.1mm — unchanged from the original starting motor
• BOTH MOUNTING HOLES ARE OBLONG, 11.4mm unthreaded. The slots allow some adjustment on installation, but confirm the hole shape on your original before ordering
• LATE MODEL REPLACEMENT — EXPECT IT TO LOOK DIFFERENT FROM YOUR ORIGINAL. The original Hitachi unit is a physically larger and much heavier direct drive motor. This permanent magnet gear reduced design supersedes it
