This is an ASSEMBLY (cooler core plus housing) — not a core-only replacement. Perkins OEM number for the same part Cat sells as 354-1274. Fits Perkins 1104C-44 and 1104D-44 engines, which Cat brands as 3054C and C4.4. Found in Cat 416D/E, 420D/E, 428D/430D backhoe loaders, JCB 3CX/4CX, and Massey Ferguson 5400 series tractors.
The Perkins 4.4L engine family has multiple oil cooler variants — brick type vs donut type, and plate counts of 5, 7, 9, or 10. This is a 9-plate brick-type assembly. Do NOT substitute a different plate count or style.
Failure symptoms: milky oil on dipstick, oil floating in coolant reservoir, rising oil temps, or unexplained coolant loss. Always replace gaskets and O-rings during installation — reusing old seals is the leading cause of post-replacement leaks.
