IMPORTANT:
This is a LOW-PRESSURE fuel leak-off/return pipe — it carries excess fuel back from the injectors to the tank. Do NOT confuse with high-pressure injection lines (Cat 217-2760 thru 217-2763) which deliver fuel to combustion. The leak-off pipe uses push-on or banjo fittings, not threaded compression nuts.
Cat C2.2 = Perkins 404C-22/404D-22 (also Cat 3024C). The Cat 486-8879 is specific to Cat machines — Perkins-branded machines use different part numbers (see U31607080). Cross-reference carefully if your machine has a Perkins data plate.
Symptoms: fuel smell near engine, weeping at return fittings, fuel on valve cover. A failed return pipe can introduce air causing hard starting. Inspect rubber connectors and O-rings during replacement.
