IMPORTANT:
Coolant temperature sensor for Perkins 1104D/1106D engines (2011-2020 applications). Perkins 1104D = Cat C4.4 ACERT — this sensor is used in Cat 416F/420F/430F/432F backhoe loaders with Perkins-built engines. Uses 2-pin M12x1.5 thread and NTC resistance output. Do NOT confuse with the oil pressure sensor (U5MK1236) which uses 3-pin M10x1.0 — different thread, different connector, different function.
Failure symptoms: erratic temperature gauge, cooling fan running constantly or not engaging, poor cold-start performance, black smoke during warm-up, and ECU fault codes. The ECU uses coolant temp for injection timing, glow plug duration, fan clutch control, and aftertreatment regen scheduling on Tier 4 engines. A failed sensor can trigger seemingly unrelated symptoms across all these systems. Use a new sealing washer and torque to spec during installation.
