IMPORTANT:
12-plate brick cooler for legacy John Deere 6.404 and 6.466 naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. Fits JD 4430/4440/4450/4455 and 4630/4640/4650/4840/4850/4955/4960 tractors, plus 690C/690D/750 excavators and 544E/544G/624E/644D loaders (1973-1992).
These are the OLDER mechanical JD engines — do NOT confuse with the later PowerTech 6068 family. The 6.466 is 7.6L displacement (466 CID), which JD later redesigned as the 6076. If your tractor is 1993 or newer with a PowerTech engine, this is NOT the correct cooler.
Failure symptoms: milky oil, oil in coolant, elevated oil temps, coolant loss. After decades of service, the cooler passages may be heavily scaled — flush the cooling system thoroughly before installing the new cooler.
⚠️ Confirm 6.404 or 6.466 engine — not PowerTech 6068.
