IMPORTANT:
Engine OIL PRESSURE sensor for Cat 3054/3054C/3056 engines (1996-2008 applications). Do NOT confuse with 278-5273 (Tier 3/4i C4.4) or 320-3064 (Tier 4 Final C4.4) — all three are 3-pin oil pressure sensors but for different engine generations and emission tiers. 274-6721 uses 1/8 NPT thread — different from the M10x1.0 metric thread on 278-5273 and 320-3064. Thread mismatch will damage the engine block port.
Failure symptoms: low oil pressure warning, engine derate or shutdown, erratic gauge readings. On 3054C backhoe loaders (416C/416D/420D), this sensor is a known wear item — the NPT threads can develop slow oil seepage that eventually reaches the electrical connector and causes corrosion. Apply Teflon tape to NPT threads during installation. Do NOT use excessive pipe dope that could contaminate the sensing element.
