IMPORTANT:
Mechanical fuel transfer pump with broad coverage for John Deere 300 and 400 Series engines: 4.239D (3.9L 4-cyl) and 6.404D (6.6L 6-cyl). Used in backhoe loaders (152/301/401), tractors (300/301/302/310/350/400/401/410/440/450/4039D), and other vintage JD equipment (1970-1985).
Failure symptoms: fuel leak from pump body, hard starting, power loss under load, engine dying on grades. Cam-lobe driven — inspect cam lobe for flat spots during replacement. These are older engines, so fuel line wear is common. Replace rubber hoses and filter simultaneously. Dual-engine coverage means part number verification is essential, not model number alone.
⚠️ Verify RE42211 on existing pump — 300/400 Series engines had multiple pump variants.
