IMPORTANT:
Cummins 6C/6CT/6CTA 8.3L oil pump with VENTED ROTOR gerotor design. The vented rotor allows trapped air to escape — critical for engines that idle extended periods or where oil aeration occurs (marine, transit buses). Supersedes 3802278, 3800828, 3948071.
CRITICAL: Do NOT substitute with gear-type pump 3948072 — despite both fitting 8.3L engines, they are different pump types and are NOT interchangeable. Match your existing pump type. Used in trucks (Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt), school/transit buses, marine, generators. Inspect oil cooler for internal restriction (common co-failure) when replacing.
