This inline upper main bearing is designed for Mercury and Mariner 2-stroke cross flow outboard motors covering 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder configurations from 75 through 150 HP produced between 1970 and 1996. The Mercury cross flow engine design was the workhorse of their outboard lineup for decades, and this bearing fits both the 2.875 bore and 3.125 bore variants across the 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder platforms. Compatible with the 4-cylinder 75, 80, and 85 HP models as well as the 6-cylinder 90, 115, 135, 140, and 150 HP cross flow models and the 6-cylinder 3.125 bore 2L 135 and 150 HP engines. The upper main bearing supports the crankshaft at the top of the powerhead and must handle the radial loads from crankshaft rotation during outboard engine operation. A worn upper main bearing causes increased engine noise, crankshaft misalignment, power loss, and can lead to serious powerhead damage if not replaced during rebuild.
