PRODUCT DETAILS:
This center main bearing kit includes loose needle rollers and the outer race for Mercury and Mariner 2-stroke looper outboard engines from 65 horsepower to 125 horsepower. The center main bearing supports the crankshaft at its center journal position, providing critical support between the cylinder banks in 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder looper configurations. Compatible with Mercury looper engines equipped with both 3.375-inch bore cylinders from 1985 through 1993 and 3.500-inch bore cylinders from 1994 through 2005. The loose needle roller design allows for maximum load capacity at the center main position where crankshaft loads are highest during high-RPM operation. The included outer race provides the hardened bearing surface against which the needle rollers operate, and both components should be replaced together to ensure proper bearing clearance. Center main bearing failure can cause catastrophic crankshaft damage and engine seizure if worn bearings are not replaced during engine rebuild.
