PRODUCT DETAILS:
This center main bearing fits Mercury and Mariner 2-cylinder 2-stroke outboard motors in the 15 through 25 HP range produced between 1979 and 2006. The bearing covers both the original 2.562 bore 20 and 25 HP models produced from 1980 through 1994 and the later Mercosil block versions of the 15, 20, and 25 HP models produced from 1994 through 2006. The Mercosil cylinder bore coating was Mercury's proprietary technology that eliminated the need for cylinder sleeves, providing a lighter and more durable cylinder block for these small outboard engines. the 18 HP model produced from 1979 through 1987 which was an earlier version in this engine family. The center main bearing supports the crankshaft between the two cylinders and must handle the radial loads from crankshaft rotation during outboard engine operation. A worn center main bearing causes engine noise, crankshaft misalignment, and power loss that can lead to powerhead damage if not replaced during rebuild. These Mercury 2-cylinder outboards were among the most popular small outboard motors for fishing boats, dinghies, and small recreational craft over nearly three decades of production. Manufactured to specifications for proper fit in Mercury and Mariner 2-cylinder outboard applications. Verify your part number before ordering to confirm correct application.
