This 85mm bore cylinder sleeve is designed for the Polaris MSX 140 personal watercraft powered by the 1192cc 3-cylinder 2-stroke direct injection engine with Ficht electronic fuel injection. The cylinder sleeve is a precision-machined cast iron liner that presses into the aluminum cylinder casting to restore the cylinder bore when the original Nikasil cylinder plating has become worn, scored, or damaged. The MSX 140 features Nikasil-plated cylinders from the factory which cannot be bored oversize, making a replacement cylinder sleeve the preferred repair method when bore damage occurs. The sleeve is supplied undersized and must be bored and honed to final dimensions after installation to achieve the correct piston-to-cylinder wall clearance for the Polaris 1200cc DI engine. Proper cylinder bore condition is essential for maintaining compression and oil control in the 2-stroke direct injection engine where precise fuel metering depends on consistent cylinder sealing. Professional machine shop installation is required for pressing the sleeve into the cylinder and boring to final specifications with proper crosshatch surface finish.
