This starter is 24 VOLT. It serves the European Volvo FH12, FM12, B12 and coach chassis built around the D12 and D13 engines. It does NOT fit the North American Volvo VN, VNL, VNM, VHD, WG, WC, WI or the Autocar ACL. Those trucks run 12 VOLT systems and take a different starter carrying Volvo 20430285 or 85103338. The two units look almost identical — both are Mitsubishi planetary gear reduction, both 12 tooth, both clockwise, both three bolt — and only the voltage separates them. Check the system voltage on your truck rather than going by the model name

PLGR PLANETARY GEAR REDUCTION — HIGH TORQUE DESIGN:
The planetary gearset multiplies torque, so this starter cranks harder than a direct drive of the same physical size and draws less current doing it. That matters most on a cold morning, on aged wiring, or on batteries that are past their best. The magnetic switch is integrated into the unit

This is the 12 TOOTH clockwise rotation starter. The gear outside diameter is 46 mm, or 1.811 inches. It mounts on a three bolt flange and all three holes are 13 mm inside diameter and unthreaded. Check the tooth count, the gear diameter and the bolt pattern on your original before ordering

That table belongs to the 12 VOLT starter, not to this one. North American Class 8 Volvo and Autocar trucks with the VE D12 engine run 12 volt electrics and take Volvo 20430285 or 85103338, or a Delco 39MT. The North American Volvo FE is a Class 7 cabover that never carried the 12.1 litre engine at all. If your truck was sold in North America, this is almost certainly not your starter
