PRODUCT DETAILS:
This direct replacement water pump features aluminum construction with a precision-formed metal impeller designed for the Porsche M96 and M97 flat-six engine family found in the 1997-2012 Porsche 911, 1997-2010 Boxster, and 2006-2008 Cayman. The belt-driven pump ensures proper factory equivalent installation across the Porsche water-cooled flat-six platform. The M96 engine marked a historic transition for the Porsche 911 from air-cooled to water-cooled technology. The 996 generation 911 introduced the 3.4-liter flat-six producing 296 horsepower later growing to 3.6 liters with 320 horsepower. The 997 generation continued with 3.6-liter and 3.8-liter variants producing up to 385 horsepower in the Carrera S. The Boxster started with a 2.5-liter version and grew through 2.7-liter and 3.2-liter variants. The Cayman offered the same engine in a fixed-roof coupe body. All shared the same basic water-cooled flat-six architecture with variations in displacement and output. The horizontally opposed layout provides a low center of gravity that is fundamental to the Porsche driving experience. The aluminum housing provides excellent heat dissipation.
