• The unit coming off is a Delco 10MT or SD300 direct drive
• That unit weighs about 22.4 lb, this one weighs 8.77 lb
• This is a Delco PG260M, permanent magnet gear reduction
• It keeps the NINE tooth pinion and the 25 mm gear OD
• Both mounting ears are 13 mm unthreaded

• Sellers print 50-79604A3 as a Volvo number, it is not
• 50-79604A3 and 50-79604A1 are MERCURY MARINE numbers
• Volvo Penta's own number for this starter is 841377

HOW TO VERIFY FIT:
• Count the pinion teeth, this unit has NINE
• Measure the gear, this one is 0.984 in / 25 mm across
• Count the mounting ears, this unit has TWO
• Both ear holes are 13 mm and unthreaded
• It turns CLOCKWISE, the same as the unit coming off

DO NOT ORDER IF:
• Your starter turns counterclockwise
• Your pinion has a tooth count other than nine
• Your mounting ears are threaded or not 13 mm
• Your engine is 24 volt, this unit is 12 volt
• You need the original heavy direct drive look for a restoration
