Kawasaki Jet Ski 550SX Head Gasket
Replacement cylinder head gasket for Kawasaki Jet Ski 550SX standup personal watercraft equipped with the 530cc 2-stroke twin cylinder engine. This engine features a 75mm bore and 60mm stroke producing 47 horsepower with crankcase reed valve induction. The engine uses a single Keihin CDK-II 38 carburetor with CDI ignition oil injection lubrication and open loop water cooling. The head gasket seals the combustion chamber between the cylinder head and cylinder block on each cylinder. A failed head gasket on a 2-stroke engine causes crankcase air leaks coolant-to-oil mixing overheating and compression loss across both cylinders. On standup watercraft like the 550SX engine reliability is critical because the rider has no seat and depends on consistent throttle response for balance and control. The head gasket must be replaced any time the cylinder head is removed for service including during top-end rebuilds decarbonization or piston replacement. Always use a torque wrench and follow the factory tightening sequence when reassembling. Ensure all mating surfaces are clean and flat before installation. One gasket per package.
