WHAT THIS CABLE DOES:
• Connects the reverse lever to the reverse bucket (gate) at the jet pump
• Raises and lowers the bucket to direct jet thrust for forward, neutral, and reverse
• A worn or stretched cable causes weak, inconsistent, or failed reverse engagement

SYMPTOMS OF A WORN OR FAILING REVERSE CABLE:
• Reverse lever stiff, binding, or hard to move
• Reverse bucket not reaching its full stops in forward or reverse
• Catch or pop when shifting between forward and reverse
• Reverse will not engage reliably while on the water
• Cable requires constant readjustment to hold position
• Frozen, kinked, or corroded inner wire
